For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves\npeaking at 10 to 15 feet expected in the surf zone. For the\nsecond Beach Hazards Statement, dangerous rip currents and large\nbreaking waves north of Cape Hatteras. Dangerous rip currents,\nlarge breaking waves, and strong longshore currents in the surf\nzone south of Cape Hatteras. For the Coastal Flood Warning, 2\nto 4 feet of inundation above ground level expected in low-\nlying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. Up to 1 foot of\ninundation is possible for sound-side flooding from Buxton\nsouthward when winds become more northerly late Thursday and\nFriday.\n\n* WHERE...Hatteras Island.\n\n* WHEN...For the first Beach Hazards Statement, until 8 PM EDT\nthis evening. For the High Surf Advisory, from 4 AM Wednesday\nto 8 PM EDT Saturday. For the second Beach Hazards Statement,\nfrom Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening. For the\nCoastal Flood Warning, from 2 PM Wednesday to 11 PM EDT Friday.\n\n* IMPACTS...Numerous roads may be closed. Portions of Highway 12\nwill be inundated. Low lying property including homes,\nbusinesses, and some critical infrastructure will be inundated.\nDangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach\nerosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from\nshore into deeper water. Dangerous shore break can throw a\nswimmer or surfer head first into the bottom causing neck and\nback injuries. Strong longshore currents will create dangerous\nswimming conditions.\n\n* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Prolonged nature of the event will continue\nto erode dune structures. Winds and waves are forecast to peak\nlatter half of Thursday.\n\n## Instructions\nTake the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
