The Air Quality\nIndex (AQI) is expected to reach the Red or Unhealthy category.\n\n* WHERE...East central, central, west central, southeast,\nnorth central, and northwest Minnesota.\n\n* WHEN...Until 11 AM CDT Friday.\n\n* IMPACTS...Some members of the general public may experience\nhealth effects. Sensitive groups, such as people with lung disease\n(including asthma), heart disease, and children and older adults,\nmay experience health effects.\n\n* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Very heavy smoke is expected across\nthe Arrowhead today, as large wildfires continue to spread. Hot\ntemperatures, when combined with the air pollution, will exacerbate\nhealth impacts. A frontal boundary will then spread heavy smoke\nfurther south this evening into Wednesday morning, as it moves\nacross northern and central Minnesota. The onset of smoke will be\nrapid. This boundary eventually passes through the Twin Cities and\ninto southeastern Minnesota on Wednesday or Wednesday evening,\nbringing heavy smoke even further south. Additional rounds of heavy\nsmoke are possible from Thursday through Friday morning across the\nalert area.\n\n## Instructions\nSensitive groups, such as people with lung disease (including\nasthma), heart disease, and children and older adults, should avoid\nprolonged or heavy exertion. The general public should limit\nprolonged or heavy exertion. Reduce or eliminate activities that\ncontribute to air pollution, such as outdoor burning, and use of\nresidential wood burning devices. Reduce vehicle trips and vehicle\nidling as much as possible. Keep windows closed overnight to prevent\nsmoke from getting indoors.\n\nFor information on current air quality conditions in your area and\nto sign up for daily air quality forecasts and alert notifications by\nemail, text message, phone, or the EPA AirNow mobile app, visit\nhttps://www.pca.state.mn.us/air- water-land-climate/current-air-\nquality-conditions.
