For the Heat\nAdvisory, heat index values up to 109 expected Thursday.\n\n* WHERE...Portions of North and Central Texas.\n\n* WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 8 PM CDT this evening.\nFor the Heat Advisory, from 8 PM this evening to 8 PM CDT Thursday.\n\n* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during\nextreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high\nhumidity will increase the risk for heat-related illnesses to\noccur, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor\nactivities.\n\n## Instructions\nTake extra precautions when outside by staying hydrated, wearing\nlightweight and loose fitting clothing, and limiting strenuous\nactivities to the early morning or evening. Check up on relatives and\nneighbors. Never leave young children or pets in an enclosed vehicle,\neven for a short time, as temperatures can quickly rise to\nlife-threatening levels.\n\nKnow the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To\nreduce risk when outdoors, the occupational safety and health\nadministration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded\nor air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be\nmoved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency!\nCall 911 ASAP if you or someone you know is exhibiting signs of heat\nstroke.\n\nExtreme heat is dangerous, especially for those without reliable\nshelter. Limit time outdoors during the hottest time of the day,\ntypically from 2 to 7 PM, rest in the shade when possible, and drink\nplenty of water. Locate nearby cooling centers through local\nresources or dial 2-1-1 in Texas."}
