Some low-water crossings may become\nimpassable.\n\n* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...\n- At 254 PM CDT Monday, elevated river and lake levels\ncontinue.\n- This includes the following streams and drainages...\nMoose River, Jeanette Creek, Horse River, Basswood River,\nKawishiwi River, and Hustler River.\n\nAdditional rainfall amounts up to two tenths to three tenths\nof an inch are expected over the area through mid-week.\n\nExpect high, fast moving water on area rivers and elevated\nlake levels. Water levels are near or above those seen during\nflood events in Spring 2022 and June 2024.\n\nAreas near the end of the Gunflint Trail and near Ely will\ncontinue to see slow decreases in elevated water levels this\nweek. For areas near and on Basswood Lake, flows are peaking\nas of Sunday afternoon, May 10, and at Lac La Croix peak\nflows are expected this week.\n\nThose venturing into the Boundary Waters should prepare for\nhigh water and possible inundation of portages and campsites,\nas well as dangerous rapids and very cold water.\n\n- Some locations that will experience flooding include...\nGunflint Lake, Snowbank Lake, Basswood Lake, Boundary Waters\nCanoe Area Wilderness, Fall Lake, Sea Gull Lake, Saganaga\nLake, Ensign Lake, Disappointment Lake and Lac La Croix.\n- Flood safety information can be found at\nwww.weather.gov/safety/flood.\n\n## Instructions\nCampers and hikers should avoid flooded trail crossings. If camping\nat a site along or near the banks of rivers or streams, move away\nfrom those locations and seek higher ground.\n\nPortage and hiking trails may be impassable and low-lying campsites\nmay be inundated with excessive runoff in this section of the\nBoundary Waters as flooding is occurring or imminent.\n\nReport observed flooding to local emergency services or law\nenforcement and to the National Weather Service in Duluth when you\ncan do so safely.
