## Narrative

An employee was picking up stacks of scrap nylon sheets and throwing them into the hopper attached to the granulator. The sheets in a pile were bird-caging and the employee's left ring finger got caught in a hole in one of these sheets. As the sheet was pulled downward into the hopper by the action of the grinder, the employee's left ring finger was amputated and the index finger was fractured and lacerated.
