The City of Genesee, Idaho operates a wastewater treatment plant which exceeded its NPDES permit limits for biochemical oxygen demand, total suspended solids, pH and E. coli. On December 30, 2013, EPA Region 10 filed a Consent Agreement and Final Order assessing a penalty of $17,700 against the City for these violations of the Clean Water Act.
