Abstract

This regulation establishes an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for residues of the active ingredients (a.i.) sodium o- nitophenolate, sodium p-nitrophenolate, sodium 5-nitroguaiacolate, on all food commodities when used as Plant Growth Regulators on growing crops. These three a.i. comprise the end-use product ATONIK<Register>, ASAHI Manufacturing Company, Ltd., c/o Chemical Consultants International, Inc., West 98\th\ Terrace, Suite 100, Overland Park, KS, 66212, submitted a petition to EPA under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA), as amended by the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA) of 1996, requesting an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance. This regulation eliminates the need to establish a maximum permissible level for residues of sodium o-nitophenolate, sodium p- nitrophenolate, and sodium 5-nitroguaiacolate and reassess the three existing tolerances for those three a.i..
