Withdrawal of Direct Final Rule; Guidelines Establishing Test Procedures for the Analysis of Pollutants Under the Clean Water Act; National Primary Drinking Water Regulations and National Secondary Drinking Water Regulations; Methods Update

Because EPA received adverse comments, we are withdrawing the direct final rule entitled "Guidelines Establishing Test Procedures for the Analysis of Pollutants Under the Clean Water Act; National Primary Drinking Water Regulations and National Secondary Drinking Water Regulations; Methods Update; Direct Final Rule." We published the direct final rule (66 FR 3466) with a companion proposed rule (66 FR 3526) on January 16, 2001. We stated in the direct final rule that if we received adverse comment by March 19, 2001, we would publish a timely notice of withdrawal in the Federal Register. We subsequently received adverse comments on the direct final rule. We will address those comments in a subsequent action based on the parallel proposal. The proposed rule stated that we would not institute a second comment period on this action.
