Abstract

EPA is approving a revision to the long-term strategy portion of Colorado's State Implementation Plan (SIP) for Class I Visibility Protection, contained in section III of the document entitled "Colorado's State Implementation Plan for Class I Visibility Protection: Craig Station Units 1 and 2 Requirements," as submitted by the Governor with a letter dated June 7, 2001. The revision will incorporate into the SIP emissions reduction requirements for the Craig Station (a coal-fired steam generating plant located near the town of Craig, Colorado). EPA is approving the SIP revision, which is expected to remedy Craig Station's contribution to visibility impairment in the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness Area and, therefore, make reasonable progress toward the Clean Air Act National visibility goal with respect to such contribution. On May 1, 2001, EPA published a notice of proposed rulemaking that proposed to approve this SIP revision and provided a thirty-day period for public comment. EPA received one letter of supportive comments regarding the proposed revision and is finalizing the proposal without modification.
