Abstract

EPA is approving the State Implementation Plan (SIP) consisting of the attainment demonstration for the one-hour ozone national ambient air quality standard (NAAQS) for the Baltimore severe nonattainment area (the Baltimore area). This control strategy plan was submitted by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE). The measures that have been adopted by the State which comprise the control strategy of the one-hour ozone attainment demonstration have and will result in significant emission reductions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and oxides of nitrogen ( NO<INF>X</INF>) in the Baltimore area. The intended effect of this action is to approve these SIP revisions as meeting the requirements of the Clean Air Act (CAA or the Act).
