Abstract
EPA is taking direct final action to approve a request from the State of West Virginia to redesignate the Follansbee area of Brooke County, West Virginia (Follansbee area) from nonattainment to attainment for the national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS) for particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter less than or equal to a nominal 10 microns (PM<INF>10</INF>). EPA is also approving the plan for maintaining the PM<INF>10</INF> standard in the Follansbee area and contingency measures as revisions to the West Virginia State Implementation Plan (SIP). Approval of the maintenance plan will put a plan in place for maintaining the PM<INF>10</INF> standard for the next ten years in the Follansbee area. EPA is approving the redesignation request, the maintenance plan and the contingency measures in accordance with the requirements of the Clean Air Act (CAA).
