Abstract
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is issuing a rule that modifies the existing EPA-designated ocean dredged material disposal site (ODMDS) offshore of Mobile, Alabama (referred to hereafter as the existing Mobile ODMDS), pursuant to the Marine Protection, Research and Sanctuaries Act of 1972, as amended (MPRSA). The primary purpose for the site modification is to enlarge the site to serve the long-term need for a location to dispose of suitable material dredged from the Mobile Harbor Federal navigation channel, and for the disposal of suitable dredged material for persons who receive a MPRSA permit for such disposal from other sites within Mobile Bay/Port of Mobile. The modified site will be subject to monitoring and management to ensure continued protection of human health and the marine environment.
