This document establishes a time-limited tolerance for residues of the fumigant propylene oxide in or on the raw agricultural commodities almonds, Brazil nuts, filberts, pecans, pistachio nuts, and walnuts. As a practical matter, this regulation reduces the maximum permissible residue level for propylene oxide in or on these nuts from 300 ppm to 150 ppm. The regulation to establish a maximum permissible level for residues of the fumigant was requested in a petition submitted by Aberco, Inc., 9430 Lanham Severn Road, Seabrook, MD 20706.
