Abstract

This regulation establishes time-limited tolerances for residues of the pesticide bifenthrin in or on the raw agricultural commodity crop group, cucurbits (Crop Group 9 - cucumbers, melons, and squash), and in or on the raw agricultural commodity raspberries, in connection with EPA's granting of emergency exemptions under section 18 of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act authorizing use of bifenthrin on cucurbits in California, Arizona, and Texas; and use of bifenthrin on raspberries in Oregon and Washington. This regulation establishes maximum permissible levels for residues of bifenthrin on these commodities pursuant to section 408(l)(6) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, as amended by the Food Quality Protection Act of 1996. These tolerances will expire and are revoked on April 30, 1998 (cucurbits) and September 30, 1997 (raspberries).
