Abstract

This regulation establishes time-limited tolerances for combined residues of imazapic-ammonium, (+)-2-[4,5-dihydro-4-methyl-4- (1-methylethyl)-5-oxo-1H-imidazol-2- yl]-5-methyl-3-pyridinecarboxylic acid, applied as its ammonium salt and its metabolite (+)-2-[4,5- dihydro-4-methyl-4-(1-methylethyl)-5-oxo-1H-imidazol-2-yl]-5- hydromethyl-3- pyridinecarboxylic acid both free and conjugated in or on grass forage at 30 ppm; grass hay at 15 ppm; milk, fat, meat, meat byproducts (except kidney) of cattle, goats, hogs, horses, and sheep at 0.10 ppm; kidney of cattle, goats, hogs, horses, and sheep at 1 ppm. This action is in response to EPA's granting of emergency exemptions under section 18 of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act authorizing use of the pesticide on pasture/rangeland and land in the Conservation Reserve Program. This regulation establishes a maximum permissible level for residues of imazapic-ammonium and its metabolite in these food commodities. The tolerances will expire and are revoked on December 31, 2001.
