The contact owned a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the vehicle had a recall remedy had been completed on the vehicle relating to the transmission. The contact stated that a low oil pressure had been detected. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that the master mechanic had to inspect the vehicle. The contact stated the appointment with the master mechanic had not been completed as of yet. The contact stated that since the making of their appointment while driving when they heard a loud pop noise come from the vehicle. The contact noticed smoke coming from the rear end of the vehicle. The contact then coasted to the side of the road where the vehicle completely shut off. Another person nearby noticed the vehicle had caught on fire underneath the hood of the vehicle. The fire department arrived and put out the fire. A police report was filed and a case number was provided. There were no injuries and no medical attention. The vehicle was towed and deemed totaled due to the engine being completely melted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred them to the NHTSA Hotline.
