Narrative

The contact owned a 2019 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked at a fuel pump, the vehicle began rolling backward on its own. The contact attempted to enter the vehicle to stop the momentum; however, the vehicle rolled over her left foot. The vehicle continued to roll backward and hit a curb which stopped the vehicle. A couple and the gas attendant came to the contact aide while another person parked her vehicle. The couple informed the contact that there may have been a recall placed on the vehicle for the failure. The contact stated the Akron Police Dept. said a police report could not be filed because the incident happened on private property.. The contact was taken by her brother to the emergency room where she was treated for injuries to her left foot and right shoulder. The contact sought further treatment for her foot and was placed in physical therapy. The air bags did not deploy. The contact was able to return to the fuel station and drove the vehicle home. The dealer was notified of the failure and towed the vehicle to their location and gave the contact a loaner vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that her vehicle was under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000(Power Train). The dealer notified the manufacturer about the failure and the dealer informed her that a case had been filed. The contact eventually received a letter for the recall on her vehicle.
