Narrative

We purchased a product called a Kurgo dog safety tether. The product connects a dog harness to the seat belts inside a car. We purchased one of these safety tethers to make travelling with a 6 month old Lab/Staffordshire mix a bit less chaotic. Ollie is an energetic strong puppy, and yesterday while driving to our nearby nature center for a romp, the car became uncharacteristically quiet. Cut to the chase - the tether had come undone from the seat belt buckle and Ollie had leapt out the car window at 45 mph. The dog had several abrasions, but no major broken bones - if one counts the tail as a 'minor' bone. The potential for far worse outcomes was avoided, but this product clearly is ineffective for its primary purpose, which is to keep the dog in the car and safe. The product needs to be re-engineered to actually do what it is supposed to do. Ollie could have been killed.
