Narrative

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, she stopped at a service station to refill when she was notified by another individual to exit the vehicle. The traction control warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the individual noticed flames at the hood of the vehicle. The contact stated that the individual was a firefighter that inspected the vehicle and lifted the hood and extinguished the fire. No injuries were sustained. No medical attention was required. A fire report was filed. The contact notified AAA where it was towed to Christian Brothers Automotive where it was diagnosed that the brake line failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, a year later the failure recurred. The contact stated that the brake warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, she depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle when she heard a pop sound, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that she had to apply pressure to the brake pedal to slow the vehicle. The traction control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake line failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that she then received notification of the NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V162000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified
