The contact's son owned a 2023 Ford Maverick. The contact was filing a complaint on behalf of his deceased son. The contact stated that while his son was driving at an undisclosed speed and making a right-corner turn, the vehicle turned onto the left shoulder, which was covered in dirt and gravel, and skidded 164 feet into a large tree. The vehicle then rotated about 90â100 degrees and caught fire. The contact stated that the fire started in the engine compartment. The police and fire department arrived on the scene, and the fire department extinguished the fire. The contact stated that a state trooper informed him that the crash was caused by excessive speed. The contact's son remained inside the vehicle when it caught fire and died as a result of the fire; however, the contact's son was unable to be identified due to severe burns from the fire. Police and fire department reports were filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The insurance company was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.
