DT: 1998, FORD, MUSTANG. CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE IGNITION SWITCH, BUT BEFORE HE KNEW ABOUT THE RECALL, VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. WHILE DRIVING THE LIGHTS FLICKERED AND CONTACT SMELLED AN ODOR, SUCH AS AN ELECTRICAL WIRE. CONTACT PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND MOVED THE LIGHT SWITCH , AND SHORTLY AFTER, NO DASH CONTROLS WERE WORKING. THE ONLY THING THAT WORKED WAS THE RADIO. DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH, BUT WOULD NOT REPAIR THE DAMAGE CAUSED FROM THE FIRE. THE SERVICE DEALER STATED THE SECONDARY DAMAGE WAS NOT CAUSED BY THE RECALL FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH. A CERTIFIED MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THE FIRE WAS CAUSED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH WHICH HAD A SHORT IN THE CONNECTORS, AND AFFECTED THE BLOWER MOTOR ON THE AIR CONDITIONER. *AK
