Narrative

An employee was hospitalized with first and second degree burns to 20 percent of his body, on his left arm, shoulder, and back. The employee was preparing to load sand into the tickler attached to a paper machine. He opened the valve and was burned by hot water and flash steam at a temperature of approximately 108 degrees Fahrenheit.
