Narrative

An employee was dumping powdered graphite/carbon debris from a drum suspended from a crane by a nylon sling into a hopper on the ground. The employee's left hand was on the hopper as the caked carbon material fell out of the drum and into the hopper causing the hopper to shift. His hand was caught between the edge of the hopper and the drum resulting in the amputation of the left pinky finger between the first and second knuckle.
