On 01/06/2015, an employee was manually feeding a work piece into a tabletop-mounted router to remove material/shape the edges of the triangular shaped work piece, which was 5-inches long by 2-inches tall. The work piece momentarily became stuck on debris that surrounded the router bit and then unexpectedly moved toward the bit, which caused the employee's right thumb/hand to go beneath the machine guard. The router bit partially amputated the employee's right thumb, removing the skin on the thumb tip.
