The employee had completed the work operation and was shutting down the crane. The employee was asked to check the control switch located on the crane's turn table. The employee's finger got caught in a slot where the switch was located and the crane engaged and started to turn. The employee's left middle finger was crushed. It was later amputated at the first knuckle at the hospital.
