An employee was waiting for water to come through the trench drain and then across to him in the wastewater treatment area. Since the water was not coming through the wastewater treatment area, the employee determined the transfer line must be clogged, so he added steam to try to clear the line. The hose popped out of the discharge line in the pit and sprayed the employee with hot steam. He suffered burns to the wrists and abdomen.
