An employee was using a hammer to disrupt a bridge of sugar inside of a storage vessel. The employee was outside the vessel. The hammer was dropped into the 12" x 12" auger inspection opening. As the employee retrieved the hammer, the auger started and the employee sustained broken bones and lacerations.
