Cuts, lacerations

On January 9, 2020, an industrial mechanic was replacing suction cups on an end-of-arm tool for a robotic depalletizing machine in a distribution plant. The employee was on an elevated depalletizing table between the depalletizing machine and a conveyor. A mechanical bar (used to push palletized merchandise from the depalletizing table onto the adjacent conveyor) struck the employee's left foot. The employee was hospitalized, requiring stitches and then surgery. The area was guarded with light curtains at the time of the incident.
