Narrative

An employee was using a 4-foot paddle to clean out a hopper that discharges pet-chew product into an extruder. The paddle contacted the extruder's auger and was pulled into the hopper. The employee's finger was cut by a sharp edge on the hopper. He sustained a partial fingertip amputation with an open fracture. The hopper was running at the time.
