At 9:00 a.m. on March 22, 2022, an employee was pressure washing the inside of a liquid tanker trailer to remove lime slurry (sludge). The employee had nearly finished cleaning sludge from inside the tanker trailer and reached into the lower drain valve opening with their left hand to manually push lime slurry through the valve. While pushing lime slurry through the valve, the valve unexpectedly closed on their left middle and ring fingers causing the loss of skin on their middle finger and immediate amputation of the ring fingertip.
