An employee was working in an area where melted steel was being transported in a ladle. The metal burned through the ladle and production halted. When the employee stepped into a patch of dirt, hot debris particles flew between his fire safety boot and his pants, causing third-degree burns on his left leg and foot. He was hospitalized.
