An employee was preparing to move a 24-volt battery operated fertilizer diverter conveyor system and valve. He removed an electrical cord used to charge the internal battery charger for the two 12-volt batteries when an internal spark caused an explosion within the battery box. The employee sustained a broken left hand and lacerations to the forehead.
