An employee used a syringe to administer a vaccine to a cow in its neck. Upon completion, he moved the syringe to his left hand in order to use his right hand to mark the cow with paint signifying it was vaccinated. He reached to paint the cow with his right hand and sustained a needlestick in the left thigh. The employee was hospitalized with swelling of the thigh.
