Fractures

An employee was capping off an abandoned 6-inch water line. The valve controlling the flow to the line was turned off, but the valve wasn't working properly, so a small amount of water was leaking past. Water that was draining from the pipe built up pressure after the cap was put on. The employee was taping a wrap over the pipe when the cap blew out of the valve and struck his left hand against another section of the pipe, resulting in three fractured fingers, including a compound fracture of the little finger.
