An employee was positioning a shackle onto a transition wheel to hang carcasses on the incline chain. The shackle twisted and the employee's right index finger was pinched between the shackle shaft and rail guide plate. The employee sustained a partial amputation to the fingertip and a distal tuft fracture to the finger.
