Narrative

Two welders were adjusting steel columns at the base plate when the tack welds holding up a 6 x 4 x 3/8-inch crossbeam failed. The beam fell 11 feet and struck the injured employee in the left rib area. The employee was hospitalized for T5-T7 vertebral fractures, fluid in the lungs, rib fractures, and bruising and contusions.
