Narrative

An employee was ascending a straight ladder to exit the bottom of an elevator shaft when he lost balance and fell approximately 4-5 feet onto wood wire reels. He suffered rib fractures resulting in partial pneumothorax and sustained compression fractures to 2 or 3 thoracic vertebrae. The employee was hospitalized.
