An employee was working on a computer numerical control (CNC) machine in a machine shop. As they were blowing metal shavings off a drill bit, the machine's tool changer cycled and crushed their left ring finger, resulting in an amputation at the first knuckle. Interlocks and doors were not installed on the machine at the time of the incident.
