Narrative

An employee was peering into an elevator pit to look at future work when the handrail they were leaning on gave out, causing them to fall 5.5 feet into the elevator shaft and onto its concrete floor. The employee suffered a head laceration and contusion, spinal compressed fracture, and transverse process fracture of the spine.
