Narrative

An employee was hauling hot mix asphalt in a tandem dump truck. He was cleaning up buildup around the latch that holds the tailgate pin and using a scraper to wedge the tailgate open. The pin came down on his left middle finger, resulting in a tissue amputation and loss of the fingernail.
